Hey everyone!!
Here is a commission I've done for an ornithological association that has chosen the Strawberry Finch to be the "Bird of the Summer" in their magazine I'm really delighted they chose me to draw it!!
I must thank first, because he made an amazing Strawberry Finch (in his gallery it's a Red Avadavat, one of the many names this bird has) that allowed me to discover this lovely bird... so when I was contacted by the magazine, I knew exactly what they were talking about!!
The Strawberry Finch, also known as Red Munia, Red Avadavat or Amandava Amandava, is a sparrow-sized bird that lives in South Asia and breeds in India. It is during mating/breeding season that the feathers turn bright red like this, otherwise its colors are more muted. It often lives in small, fast and singing flocks
The magazine wanted a traditional drawing, but scanned and sent to them by e-mail... and they've told me I'm allowed to sell the original drawing, if I give the money to a local ornithological association... so if anyone's interested in buying it, know that the money will go to an association that protects birds
