Soooooooooooooooooo, as promised, I am sharing with you my lovely discovery from last week, my Technograph - Fixpencil by Caran d'Ache!!

Here is a picture I made -while I was drawing the Pupa Challenge- of the Fixpencil I inherited from Chouca, Hubby's dad...

Technographe

I got it at the same time as these pencils:

What's made me smile today - COLORS!

and while I used the pencils straight away, I didn't look thoroughly at the graphite pencils (in the little white metallic box that's on the top left of last picture) but now I have done it and I'm so happy!! Aside from a few standard graphite pencils of various sizes and hardness, there was the lovely Fixpencil and the different leads for Technograph :) I have no idea how old it is exactly... but I'd say the 1960s or 1970s, probably. It is quite heavy, pleasantly so... and it is all made of metal, covered in a light layer of black paint.

As you see, I have a small stash of leads, but I have checked on the Caran d'Ache website and they still make them :) so I can order more when I need it :)

and voilà, here is my 1st artwork with this amazing tool:

Little Barn - Pupa Challenge - November 2023

I wish you all the opportunity to try a new tool for you art in December!!

... but now I'm back!!

...Hi everyone!!

the thing is, the end of September and the beginning of October were really unpleasant for me: vertigo, migraines, fatigue, friends to support because they were mourning... For my health, I have been prescribed physiotherapy and a precise cocktail of magnesium, iron, vitamins B and D and whatnot... anyway, things are getting better slowly... they started getting better about a week ago, which was fortunate, since Hubby had a few days off from work (and he really needed it)... so we took time for ourselves, went hiking, played video games and board games, made good, slowly cooked food, watched new movies (well, new to us but not necessarily released recently), the rugby World Cup, too...

I have drawn a lot, too, even if I haven't uploaded,... I'm currently drawing Inktober 23 and I have finished the -not so- creepy clown for the Inkblot Splatter Group challenge and I have googled refs for the current Animal of the Month... I intend to catch up on your artworks -as fast/slowly as my health will allow it- and to upload my latest artworks, but I have decided not to catch up crazily on Inktober and flood you with drawings, so I'll post one or maybe two drawings a day until I've caught up with myself :D oh, and we're making a super cool Playmobil diorama for Halloween :)

Meanwhile, I wish you all a lovely week with comfy time for yourself :)

I'm so looking forward to it!! :) at my own pace, as usual, so I'll probably finish in November :D

But mostly, I'm looking forward to seeing what some of my favorite artists, and some awesome friends, will come up with :)

Hey everyone!!

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack on DA :)

It's been 2 weeks and I've missed you all so much!! I'm glad to be around!!

For the people who like super short journals, here is the summary:

- on the plus side: Hubby and I were on vacation in Sigmaringen (Germany) for a whole week, then we hiked for another week around our home, on well-known and new trails, enjoyed the sun on our balcony and played a looooooooooooot of board games and video games

- on the not-so-cool side: after about 3 months of pains and analysis and meetings with my doctor, I have a damaged nerve that is causing me a lot of pain but, while it's not life-threatening or anything really bad, nothing can be done apparently, except taking painkillers and having massages, until the problem disappears by itself, or not, maybe in a few months, maybe in years...

Now, for a, let's say, more developed journal :D

So, yes, we were on vacation and it was AMAZING!! Sigmaringen and its surroundings are really a wonderful region, rich in history, hiking spots and the people are truly sweet :) We visited the city (Sigmaringen - Wikipedia) and its castle (HOHENZOLLERN PALACE (hohenzollern-schloss.de).. totally awesome!!!!), a Celtic museum and settlement (Keltenmuseum Heuneburg in Herbertingen | and Heuneburg – CELTIC CITY OF PYRENE (heuneburg-pyrene.de)) , a paleolithic museum and settlement (Federseemuseum Bad Buchau - Federseemuseum Bad Buchau and Freigelände - Federseemuseum Bad Buchau wonderful, truly!!), walked on the longest pontoon ever :D ( Ausblick auf den Federsee – Federsee Runde von Bad Buchau | Wanderung | Komoot ) ... we hiked, too, notably the awesome Donaufelsenlauf Kloster-Felsenweg - outdoor-hochgenuss.de (outdoor-hoch-genuss.de) that was so rich in different landscapes and sights that we were totally amazed that all this could be seen in only 5 hours... Anyway, these were WONDERFUL HOLIDAYS!!

I sketched a lot, some things were sooooooooooo inspiring... I'm going to clean it all a bit, finish what needs to be, then I'll upload it here... I have 3 pages, one with art and patterns that inspired me (celtic, paleolithic, medieval, modern,...), one with the Hohenzollern Schloss from the window of our hotel room... yes, we were that lucky... we had that exact view: Schloss Sigmaringen 2022 - Schloss Sigmaringen – Wikipedia and another page like the one I did in Stein am Rhein last year,

Big Sketchbook - Memories of Stein am Rhein

which is a pell-mell or a gallimaufry (thanks wotawota for teaching me this one) of the things we saw :)

Then, as I said, we played inside and hiked around home for a week, enjoyed the nice weather... I wasn't on the computer too much (except for playing), and all the time I was on it was dedicated to preparing little Ariane's Christening, which will be in 5 days ....

Lucas the Spider - Birthday Card for Ariane
Birthday and Penguin Day!

... the thing is, her parents had a tricky time preparing everything, and we learned only last Thursday that they want to make a "box of souvenirs" that she'll open when she'll be 18... so in addition to drawing the Animal of the Month (upload tomorrow), I searched and found a lot of things for her (I'm making an album of the 2 first times we saw her, with tree leaves from Girard's Hollow in our town, photos of the meetings here and in Bern, a few anecdotes about her birthday, the best songs, books and movies that came out around her birthday, stuff like that... and I have already painted a card, too... and we'll put a personalized diary-sketchbook with the album, too, so she can fill it with whatever she wants...)... the thing is, it took me quite some time and I haven't finished yet

Meanwhile, like I said above, after weeks of pains in my back and left leg, analysis, exams, tests and whatnot, my doctor said: "well, the good news is: you haven't got a hernia, or early arthritis, and the nerve isn't stuck ... the bad news is: the crural nerve is damaged, we don't know why, we can't do anything but give you painkillers and wait for it to get better on its own, ... can be a few weeks, can be a few years, can be never..." which pisses me off, like, a loooot... I know there are worse things and worse illnesses to have, and I'm thankful it's not worse, but I'm really pissed, honestly, I mean, it hurts almost all the time,... if I sit for too long, if I stand for too long, sometimes when I'm sleeping it wakes me up... sometimes the nerve sends wrong signals to my brain, saying "it burns, there is an electric shock, it's wet,..." and it's really puzzling... so now a part of my bullet journal is devoted to symptoms, if some activities helped or not and stuff... the nice thing is, walking is recommended and seems to help (pain is lighter) so, since it's my favorite activity with art .... :)

And voilà!!! You know everything, if you've been brave enough to read that far :D

Starting tomorrow, I'll upload my AotM, a Disney drawing, I have two pareidolia I want to share, too, and the card for Ariane... I'm going to start the PUPA challenge, too, in pastels (I got a beautiful box from my friend Earl Grey Panda for my birthday), I have already chosen a toned paper (grey) and I'll start as soon as I can...

I'm going to catch up slowly with all your art, too, though it will probably have to wait a bit, like until next week, because of all the things I have to do first... but meanwhile, I wish you all a lovely week and much, much joy today!!!

:D

Your MoonyMina is not very organized these days :D I know, and I'm sorry about that...

Last time Hubby and I enjoyed a surprise week off (beginning of February), I spent the week taking care of him, walking, playing, drawing and painting, too, but didn't comment much here...

after that, I was more on DA, but had 5 crazy weeks with 2 colleagues missing (one ill, another one left on a whim because she doesn't like the new re-organizing at one of the schools I work for), with me and another colleague taking care of all their lessons and students, which also means new immigrants who need their teachers to help them with paperwork, everyday stuff (transport, doctor, ...), so I spent 5 weeks helping more students than usual + finding time to listen to 2 people close to me who aren't feeling well atm (burn-out, both of them).

Needless to say, when we started our planned, regular holiday week on the 13th of March, it was a relief to have a break from all these social demands... you see, the trouble is, with my type of Asperger, I would like to help everyone, but having conversations with neurotypical people irl taps a lot into my energy supplies, because part of my mind is on the conversation, while another part is focusing on understanding the person's body language, while yet another part is trying to find words that will be right and won't appear blunt or tactless or too clinical... for many people it is done naturally, without thinking, while it is for me a conscious process... and tiring...

But enough complaining, sorry about that... ;) so, anyhoo, last week, Hubby and I took a slooooooooow week off, playing video games (I got Pokemon Snap! for my birthday from Hubby, it's awesome!!), mostly AoE and Civ and Mario Kart and Raving Rabbids, taking looooong walks in the forest and spending time identifying the birds we saw and heard, reading, too...

I drew normally, too, which felt incredibly good, so I have to upload: a drawing for the International Women's Day event here on DA, 3 experiments with values and color leftovers, 2 in-class-or-on-the-phone doodle pages, 2 Inktober 2021 catching-up drawings (a HP themed (again!! :D) and an A-Team one), a birthday card with kittens and, hopefully, the Animal of the Month (the Diving bell Spider), too, since it is currently sketched on my desk, without its colors...

So this week and the next will be devoted, between work and chores and doctor's appointments (only check-ups, nothing bad), to uploading these, commenting, faving and answering here on DA :) in other words, catching up with you lovely people :)

Meanwhile, I wish you all a lovely day, a wonderful week and much inspiration!!
